Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics
Prosthodontics is the field of dentistry that replaces the missing teeth. This is achieved with fixed restorations (crowns, bridges), removable restorations (dentures) and restorations supported by implants (fixed of removable).
Dental crowns – bridge
The construction of a dental crown or bridge happens in a way that the new teeth simulate in size and in shape the teeth they replace. Simultaneously, effort is placed so that the “suspended” teeth look like they emerge from the gums, giving the impression that they are natural teeth. Crowns and bridges may either contain an internal metal frame-work that is coated externally with porcelain (metal-ceramic), or be made completely by porcelain (all-ceramic). The high resistance of porcelain and even the possibility to choose a specific shade can lead to a result that satisfies even the most demanding patient.
All-ceramic crowns
All-ceramic crowns are made of aesthetic materials, such as porcelain and zirconia without having an internal metal support. Hence, the light is diffused inside the tooth, accomplishing an exceptionally natural and aesthetic result.
Veneers
A dental veneer is a thin peel of porcelain or composite resin which is welded on the front tooth surface. With dental veneers tooth imperfections regarding its shape, size and color can be restored. These changes will give you a perfect smile!
Onlays – Dental fillings
Onlays are dental fillings made of porcelain or composite. They are fabricated in the laboratory and thus they provide a perfect fit. Onlays as well as dental fillings restore the shape of the destroyed tooth. Moreover, the possibility to choose a certain shade or even a combination of shades can lead to a very aesthetically pleasing result.
Full dentures
Full dentures are used when all the teeth are missing. They are removable, which means they can be removed from the mouth for several hours a day and provide patients with the ability to chew and talk correctly. Moreover, they provide substantial support to the lips. Thus, the aesthetic problem that occurs after tooth loss and jaw atrophy is treated in an impressive way. The big variety of shapes and shades of denture teeth can satisfy even the most aesthetically demanding patients.
Partial dentures
Partial dentures are used when many teeth are missing and the use of dental bridges is not possible. They are removable, which means they can be removed from the mouth, but when in place they provide patients with the ability to chew and talk correctly. Moreover, they provide substantial support to the lips. The big variety of shapes and shades of denture teeth can satisfy even the most aesthetically demanding patients.
Background
Implant supported dentures
Many times, the jaw can be extremely absorbed that the gum surface is not adequate for the support of a denture. In these cases, we can increase the support of the denture with the use of implants. For this purpose, usually, in the upper jaw four implants are needed while in the lower jaw two implants are necessary. The internal part of the denture has special slots with which it buttons up on the implants. In this way, the denture remains at place without being moved by the tongue or while chewing or speaking.
